Details: The City of Pittsfield's drinking water supply is provided by Lake Pittsfield. The lake also provides the Pittsfield area with a prime recreational area. The 200 acre lake is surrounded by approximately 480 acres of recreational land. Offerings: The Lake and recreational land offers boating, fishing, RV and primitive camping, hiking, picnicing, tennis courts, softball diamond, soccer field, playground equipment, shelters and other general outdoor activities. Lake Pittsfield also provides a wonderful area to observe and enjoy nature and the out-of-door. The 200 acre lake is located within a 480 acre park. The camping area is equipped with treated drinking water, electrical hookups, public telephone, lighted areas, and a trailer dumping station. FEES: The boat launching fees for Pike County Residents are $10 annual fee; $2 daily fee and camping annual fee is $10. For non-residents the annual boat launching fee is $40; camping annual fee is $20; daily launching fee is $5 and the daily camping fee is $2. The motor limit for boat and watercraft is 25 horse power. Any boat with a larger motor must raise the motor and remove the prop. Water skiing and swimming are prohibited. Getting there: The City Lake is located approximately 2 miles east of U.S. 54 and 1.5 miles north of Il 106 in sections 9 & 16 of Newburg Township or approximately 2 miles east of Pittsfield.
